A Twist on a Classic: Everything Bagel Pizza with Smoked Salmon
First: hello November, whatever are you doing here? It seems a bit impossible that we’re officially in countdown to the holidays mode. I mean Thanksgiving is almost upon us and I haven’t even figured out what pies I’m going to make. And pies are SERIOUS BUSINESS in my family. Instead of working on my pie game I decided to work on the most epic of brunch / lunch / dinner ideas ever.
And it all started because of this tweet (which, really, I can say about A LOT of my kitchen shenanigans). I’m not sure why I didn’t think of this sooner as I have an unholy relationship with everything bagels and smoked salmon, as well as having a THANG for pizza (I mean what’s not to like, it is the perfect food).
I can’t say enough about this. You should really just trust me and make this for your next brunch gathering. It’s everything you love about bagels and smoked salmon on Sundays but BETTER. Plus it’ll be a GREAT conversation starter because how many places have you been that serve everything bagel pizza? Yeah, that’s what I thought.
SIDEBAR: HAVE YOU SEEN THOR: RAGNAROK YET? If not you really, really, really need to get on that. I loved EVERY second of it and I have FEELS about Thor’s character development (and please, please, please do not let him revert to back to typical Thor for the next two Avengers movies). Then there’s the small fact that every time I think I’m over my Loki feels HE SHOWS UP AGAIN AND BOOM: TOTALLY NOT. I won’t spoil anything because I’m not rude, but: Thor and Loki have never acted more like brothers than they are in this movie and I AM HERE FOR IT.
SECOND SIDEBAR: are you NaNoWriMo-ing this year? I think I may have promised I might … and I don’t. I mean. 50K is A LOT of words and I haven’t even started. It’s okay. Everything’s fine. I’m fine. *lololololololololsobs* I’ll be making a lot of this tea latte as I try and knock out some words.
SIDEBAR THREE: did you see the abomination that is strawberry pizza making it’s way across twitter? I’m sure we can all agree that we need to kill it with fire.
Pizza dough (I used this recipe, but use your favorite dough)
Trader Joe’s Everything But the Bagel Sesame Spice
Grape tomatoes (I used the heirloom mix from Trader Joe’s)
Whipped cream cheese
Sliced onion (optional)
Preheat oven to 400F (if you’re using a pizza stone don’t forget to pop it in before you preheat the oven).
Divide the dough into three equal balls (they should be around 5 ounces each) and roll out into desired thickness. Brush a tsp of EVVO on each rolled out round and sprinkle the dough with Everything But the Bagel Sesame Spice and then approximately a TBSP of shaved parmesan.
Bake dough for 10-14 minutes (depending on how crisp you like it).
Pile on your salmon, tomatoes, onions and capers. Don’t forget to dollop some cream cheese on the top. DIG IN.1
