Holy Guacamole: Food is the True Way to Find Love
Guacamole has never been sexier, and if you’re trying to find love, then this zesty, garlicky dish might be able to help you get there. Did we lose you already? Let’s back up a bit.
We are all acutely aware of the topic that is dating apps. Oh yes, whether you’ve signed up for one yourself, heard the horror stories from a friend or read about that one couple who actually found love, we’ve all been thrown into its midst.
It’s fair to say that we all have mixed feelings about dating apps, whether we’ve had our own experiences or have jumped to conclusions without the need for proof. Some people dig it, some people don’t. Regardless of how you feel, we can’t deny that there have been some interesting tidbits to come out of this strange phenomenon that say a lot about how we work.
‘Guac’ Makes Them Talk
For those individuals who have been struggling to garner interest from other singles via dating apps, there might a way for you to improve your success rate with one simple change: Add food.
It’s true! Mentioning certain types of food can actually increase the amount of activity that your dating profile gets. As humans, we are undeniably motivated by delicious food, and finding a partner seems to be no different.
In a dating study performed by Zoosk to find out what makes singles tick, the company collected information from more than 7,000 singles, 3 million dating profiles and over 364 million first messages.
The results highlighted that speaking about one food in particular almost always resulted in a reply, and that delightful food was guacamole. Apparently, having something to say about this delightful dish increased inbound messages by 114%, with potatoes and chocolate coming in hot at 101% and 100%, respectively.
Find Love With Food
Those who are trying to find love will want to know that food preferences do in fact have an effect on how we interact with others. Anytime that food and romance can be paired together, sparks tend to fly, even if only for a fleeting moment of hunger.
Even if you don’t like guacamole, potatoes or chocolate, even the very mention of food might help you to find love more quickly. Words like “foodie” and “cork” also increased the number of replies, but that’s probably where the food tactic should end.
It’s suggested that while food will bring in more responses, sticking to food topics will make the conversation fizzle out rather quickly.
Foods you shouldn’t mention at all? Fried chicken and yams were said to earn much lower incoming messages, so even if you love them, you might need to save that information for your face-to-face date.
So, while guacamole takes the cake on dating sites, it seems that the idea of food in general might be the little trick that helps you on your path to find love. If you know nothing about food, you can still take comfort in knowing that mentioning mac and cheese or your favorite burger joint has the potential to intrigue someone who might just share your love for a mouth-watering plate of grease and glory.
What kinds of foods would you guys add to your profiles? We’re thinking meatballs and sushi …would you respond to us!?0
