How to Make a Healthy Breakfast for Fast, Fun, Flavorable Fuel

Are you looking for a healthy breakfast that is fast and flavorable? Do you want to be excited about your morning meal, instead of chasing it down with coffee or skipping it all together? Breakfast is an extremely important part of starting your day right, and being excited about this meal can really help to ensure your body gets the energy and nutrients it needs to power you through your awesome day!

So, what do I have for you today?

A healthy breakfast for fast, fun and flavorable fuel. It’s as simple as that. It’s easy to make. It tastes amazing. Eat it at home, toss it in a container for the commute. Whatever you need to do to get this good food in your system! Let’s get to it.922DSC_0322

Egg Whites & Oats

DO NOT skip this recipe. My friend told me about it when she was serving it to our friends at the cottage and I was not interested. It reminded me of my dad chugging down egg whites for a fitness competition and it’s safe to say I hadn’t bought them since.

Then she served it…and I changed my mind. Immediately. I’ve since brought the recipe back home to enjoy any day of the week. Any meal, too. It’s that good.

  • Oats
  • Egg whites
  • Any and all toppings you want.

Sorry, were you looking for more? I said easy, flavorable fuel. This is all that you need, folks!

Directions:

  • Heat a skillet to medium heat with butter or your choice of oil
  • In a bowl, mix ½ cup steel cut oats and ½ cup egg whites
  • Pour mixture onto the skillet
  • Let sit to form a thick pancake, or stir it up for a scrambled egg texture
  • Dress in your favorite toppings or syrups

That’s it!

Some of your topping options could include:

  • Peanut butter (my ultimate choice)922Egg-White-Oatmeal-Recipe
  • Honey
  • Jam
  • Maple Syrup
  • Almond butter
  • Any kind of fruit you love
  • Chocolate shavings
  • Coconut shavings
  • Nuts

The consistency allows you to make either a pancake option or a scrambled option, so you can easily decide based on who you’re serving. The real fun in this meal is playing with all of the topping options, but if you’re in a rush then toss in some pepper and hot sauce and call it a day.

There are all kinds of health benefits in egg whites,  and there are lots of health benefits in oats as well. Add in some healthy toppings and you’re good to go all morning!
