Political Runner: An Android + iOS Game Makes Politics Fun Again
Will this upcoming Political Runner iOS and Android Game make politics fun?
The presidential election is often full of drama as citizens struggle to choose the best candidate. This process has highs, lows, and scandals. Netflix’s hit House of Cards transforms the process into entertainment. But what about mobile games? Political Runner is a runner-style game featuring campaign style missions.
The player starts a political career as a staffer then attempts to climb the ladder to presidential candidate. The character must overcome challenges and obstacles created by rivals. Throughout the game, the player accumulates influence points, votes, and funds.
Political Runner Aims to Combine Gameplay Fun With Education
According to indie developer Jose Franco and team, the game is intended to have an educational element as well as entertainment value. It explores grassroots organizing and political campaigns.
“The purpose does not only seem to give people a game for entertainment, but also a means of making the audience aware of an idealistic approach and perspective to do good for the society,” Political Runner developer Jose Franco.
It also attempts to fuse runner style gameplay with historical and civics education. According to a recent press release:
“Another engaging feature in the game is an educational puzzle wherein users have to collect and complete all the alphabets for names of renowned political leaders, visionaries and revolutionists. Once the player completes a name, they are given the information about the lives of those renowned people. Users can watch the game trailer for political runner.”
It releases for free download in the iOS app store in Mid-October, 2016. The developers also plan to release it for Android users through the Google Play store.
The team behind it have planned giveaways and promotions in anticipation of the game’s release. For more information, visit their website.
