The Ultimate Selfie Was Just Introduced and We’re Loving It

Taking the ultimate selfie is never an easy task. Embarrassingly enough, sometimes you end up taking tens of hundreds of photos before you land that perfect selfie shot that makes you look basically like an angel, and basically like your life is what everyone should be striving towards. (I have yet to do this one time. Ever.)

When it comes to camera phones, sometimes us iPhone die-hards have to take a step back and appreciate all of the great ideas other phone companies are coming up with in the name of selfies. Even if we know that our phones are eventually going to take that same idea and dress it up to the nines, it’s nice to appreciate what other phones are doing to stay in the crazy game that is the smartphone.

Hat’s Off to Nokia

Nokia has been working on the ultimate selfie for quite some time now, and they’re introducing a brand-new idea that might be a game-changer for duck face phenoms everywhere. The new feature from Nokia is referred to as a “bothie”… but can you guess what it does?91untitled

The latest feature was announced as part of the newly-announced flagship phone the Nokia 8. Essentially, Nokia has figured out a way for you to be able to take a personal selfie, while also taking shots of what you’re viewing from the front. It’s the perfect solution for those times when you want to surprise someone or bungee-jump with a phone, all while getting views from both sides.

The Bothie

Basically, you’re getting two kinds of selfies with the “bothie”, allowing you to capture more than just one point of view during all of your swoon-worthy escapades in life. I have to say, the idea is perfection, and I’m more than excited for the iPhone to grab this idea and run with it.

How does it work?

To create the ultimate selfie, you’re going to be creating a split-screen picture. The camera shoots simultaneously from the front camera and the rear camera, enabling you to catch everything that’s happening on both sides of your camera.

But I’m not even close to being done. Low and behold, the Nokia 8 has not one, not two, but three cameras in its design. They include two 13-megapixel sensors on the backside and a 13-megapixel camera on the front. And it’s the easiest thing to use too; Snapchat shared that all you have to do is tap the camera and switch to dual-sight mode and you’re ready to go…no need for any pesky apps or add-ons! Not Just a Camera

While it’s awesome that you can now take the ultimate selfie on both sides of your phone, the Nokia 8 doesn’t stop there. If you want to share a more interactive experience with your friends and family, simply use the “bothie” while livestreaming with YouTube or Facebook! This could be the perfect new feature for letting your family, friends and fans really submerse themselves into your activities. From dancing at a party to sky diving out of a plane, this kind of feature adds all kinds of possibilities to the term “sharing”.

Can I Have It?

Great question. It’s unclear when this phone will be available in the states, but it’s launching in Europe next month. Surprisingly it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg- $700 will get you the power of the “bothie”, as well as a durable case with a 5.3-inch screen, 64GB of storage 360-degree sound. Should we just move to Europe?

What do you think of the new “bothie” feature? Do you think smart phones are slowly going to start making actual cameras obsolete? A few of our favorite tech toys from the past have been discontinued, but is the camera safe?

Do you think anyone could have come up with a better name for the “bothie”? Let’s start gathering some ideas below! Be sure to comment!
